Mirrorless Monday

Body Image is something that is super important to me. I have friends who struggle with eating disorders and I know plenty of people who are guilty of saying things like 'ugh I am so huge'. Also as a 5'9", 185 lbs female people haven't always been kind (but I look great in jeans and I love me so : P to those losers). Anyway...I pushed positive body image like no tomorrow with this, In a Barbie World, Beach Body Board, and a few other things.

Welcome to Mirrorless Monday. Mirrorless Monday was a semi-huge undertaking. It required very little prep, but a lot of tape and butcher paper. With 6 Bathroom mirrors and 7 stairway mirrors my partner in crime Steve and I took on this challenge. One Sunday night we covered every public mirror in our res hall with butcher block paper. This did include the boys restrooms. We left 2 markers on the ledge in front of the mirrors  in the bathroom so residents could write wonderful things to each other. The response was wonderful. All but two of the covers stayed on. (Funny thing was the boys were more upset about MM than the girls. They said things like, "Body Image is a girl issue" and "Hey I need the mirror to make sure I look ok" while tearing down the paper covering). By the end of the day the mirrors had tons of positive things written. Steve and I had also teamed up with a resident who wrote nice things on post-its that could be taken away by residents to keep the thoughts with them.
